2015 Christmas in July
Update: Photos with Santa are hosted on our Flickr for viewing and downloading: https://flic.kr/s/aHskg6zGCSJolly St. Nick makes his way back to the Port Brewing and The Lost Abbey Tasting Room for the 7th Annual release of Bourbon Barrel-aged Santa’s Little Helper (Port Brewing’s Imperial Stout) and a Christmas in July celebration to benefit the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation on Saturday, July 18th, 2015. To date, Christmas in July has raised over $15,000 dollars and collected over 10,000 toys for the Toys for Tots program.Regardless of how you’ve acted so far this year, Christmas in July is the perfect opportunity to show the fat man in the red suit that you deserve more than a lump of coal… as long as you bring an unwrapped toy (valued at $15 or more) you’re in! Does your automatonophobia make it impossible to shop in a toy store? Not a problem, for just $15 at the door you’re set to join us for food, fun, entertainment and photos with Santa all included! (This is a family-friendly event). As in previous years, the event will be split in two sessions: 11:00am – 3:00pm and 4:00pm to 8:00pm.The Port Brewing and Lost Abbey “Giving Tree” will also be making an appearance, for an extra donation to Toys for Tots, you’ll receive a gift from the tree. Gifts can include rare and vintage bottles, Port Brewing / Lost Abbey gear, tickets to our legendary Barrel Night during San Diego Beer Week and some goodies from our friends around San Diego! All of The Lost Abbey and Port Brewing’s full core lineup of beers plus plenty of specialty taps will be available (full tap list released as we get closer). 2015 marks the 7th year we’ve released a Bourbon barrel-aged version of our Imperial Stout, Santa’s Little Helper. A robust beer with tones of sweet malt, dark cocoa and notes of deep bourbon, Santa’s Little Helper is the perfect accompaniment to fruitcake during a California Christmas in July. Bourbon barrel-aged Santa’s Little Helper will hit the full Port Brewing Distribution Network in late July in 375ml cork-finished bottles and limited draft. 7th Annual Christmas in July Toys for Tots BenefitWhen: Saturday, July 18th 11:00am-3:00pm, 4:00pm-8:00pmWhere: The Lost Abbey Tasting Room (155 Mata Way San Marcos, CA 92069)

The Lost Abbey Helps Veteran Homelessness
Several of our brewers and packaging staff proudly served this country in the Armed Forces, and that's something we take great pride in. As the cold winter months start to creep in and the temperatures begin to dip, our thoughts go to those that fought bravely for The United States but have since fallen on hard times.
Beginning now till the end of January, we'll be teaming up with the San Marcos Veteran Center and collecting canned food and clothing (warm gear, new socks and underwear) at The Lost Abbey Tasting Room for our US Veterans in need.

Port Brewing & The Lost Abbey Expand Into Pittsburgh
Further expanding their reach in the state of Pennsylvania, Port Brewing and The Lost Abbey have announced they’ve signed with distributor Wilson-McGinley to cover the Pittsburgh market. "We certainly did our homework and due diligence to find the right wholesaler partner to represent our brands in the Western PA region” said Brian Sauls, National Sales Manager for Port Brewing and The Lost Abbey. “We feel Wilson-McGinley represents the same core values as Lost Abbey / Port Brewing and that contagious passion and enthusiasm for great craft beer, shared with our current amazing group of distributors, makes this a partnership we are looking forward to."The Pittsburgh market will slowly begin to receive the full lineup of core and seasonal beers from both Port Brewing and Lost Abbey, with the goal to have the full portfolio by next fall. To celebrate the new partnership, Chief Operating Owner Tomme Arthur will head out to Pittsburgh following San Diego Beer Week for a week of events throughout the market. The New Lost Abbey Safety Glasses
With the safety of our employees always on the forefront of our minds when it comes anything inside the brewery, it's no surprise that we're constantly looking to not only keep them out of harms way, but also comfortable. Enter in our friends at SPY.
We've had a great relationship with SPY over the years. Collaborated on beers and events (The SPY Bad-Ass Ale and BWR) and are always available to hang with each other for the impromptu beer at their SPY Carlsbad HQ or right here at the brewery.
So this year had a new idea, what if SPY could create new safety glasses for our brewers and packaging line guys... And SPY did not disappoint. They created The General. A certified ANSI Z87.1 lens on a bad-ass pair of frames. The High Velocity impact test required by these standards and endured by these bad-ass optics is a 1/4 inch metal ball blasted at them at more than 100 mph. The high mass impact test is a 1.1 lb. pointed projectile dropped on them from more than 4 feet up. If eyewear passes these tests, it means the lenses did not eject or shatter and the frame did not break.

2014 Pre-Stone Anniversary Brunch
We are all about traditions here at The Lost Abbey, so join us for our annual pre-Stone Anniversary Brunch. Once again we’ll be feeding the masses before the annual sojourn up the hill to attend Stone’s Anniversary Celebration. As in years past, the Tasting Room will open at 8:30am with an incredible carb-laden spread (including Veggie Options) and 42 taps of fresh Port Brewing / The Lost Abbey beers. But wait — there’s more! Reminiscent of last year, again Churchills and Executive Chef A.G. Warfield will be serving an epically and appropriately arrogant menu, perfectly prepped and paired for craft beer’s paramount party. Carnivore, Vegetarian or Omnivore, you’re guaranteed to be impressed and well-sated by a buffet as impressive as the many beers to come throughout the day. As always, the food is free and the beer regular price. It’s just our — and Churchill’s — way of saying Happy Birthday to Stone and thanks to all the craft beer lovers of the world! (We’ll have more details on the beers and food next week as we get closer to the big event.) Come early, come hungry, and be prepared for a day of stories from start to finish.

Meeting Set for Cardiff Tasting Room - June 19th
San Marcos, CA, -- Looking to continue to grow The Lost Abbey and Port Brewing’s offerings to even more Southern Californians, The Lost Abbey is taking steps to opening its first satellite tasting room, choosing the community of Cardiff. The new potential tasting room location, located at 2007 San Elijo Avenue in the Cardiff Towne Center Complex (Cardiff’s largest shopping center) will serve as an alternative destination to enjoy The Lost Abbey’s core lineup as well as beers from its award winning barrel-aging program.Throughout its 8 year history, The Lost Abbey has crafted beers focusing on small batches with unique identities, making the decision to open an intimate space in a community like Cardiff that much easier.“Cardiff has always been one of my favorite beach communities,” said Director of Brewery Operations Tomme Arthur. “We love its fiercely independent feel and a love of the local beaches makes it a special place for us.”The construction of the new tasting room location still has several obstacles to overcome. Port Brewing Co / The Lost Abbey will be reaching out to the Cardiff community for support in this venture. The biggest hurdle is the Planning Commission hearing with the City of Encinitas, taking place Thursday, June 19th at 6pm.The Lost Abbey is encouraging residents of both Cardiff and Encinitas to join us at the meeting (at The Encinitas Civic Center, 505 S. Vulcan Avenue) to help bring our award-winning beers to their coastal area and along the way, become an additional community center for the neighborhood of Cardiff.
